The community of Mounds View strives to make the world a better place through encouraging its residents to recycle. The town provides trash carts to residents for trash that is not typically recyclable, such as Styrofoam, plastic grocery bags, take-out containers and more. However, the town does provide a list of materials that can be readily recycled as well as a list of ways to bundle them for easy pickup on the scheduled days. The community also participates in an annual Clean Up Day so residents can get rid of stuff that is not normally picked up, such as car batteries, metals and more. If you don't have a car or if you just enjoy helping the environment by taking mass transportation, Mounds View is ideal for you. There is a full service mass transit bus system that goes to many of the most traveled areas in the community. The Metro Transit System serves the greater Minneapolis and St. Paul area with a variety of routes that are sure to meet your daily commuting needs and more. Mounds View has several parks located throughout the city that you can enjoy the entire year. Silver View Park, for instance, is located on County Road I and Silver Lake Road and it has sport fields, sport courts, hiking trails, a playground and a picnic shelter so the entire family can spend the day here. City Hall Park is similar and it is located directly behind the Mounds View City Hall. Other parks in the area include Oakwood Park, Greenfield Park and Lakeside Lions Park. The Mounds View Community Center is a state-of-the-art facility available to area residents for a number of events and gatherings. Located at 5394 Edgewood Drive, the center is easy to find as it is directly across the street from the Mounds View City Hall. The community center offers a fitness studio for kids, an indoor walking club, dance classes, sports events and so much more.
